Extended working hours on EDGE London Bridge

St Thomas Street East Developments

From the 14th of August 2023, for the following 8 weeks, EDGE London Bridge will be operating extended working hours to complete critical piling works and plunge column installation. Working hours will be as follows:

  • Monday – Friday: 07:00 – 20.00 (07.00 – 08.00 period will be for deliveries only).
  • Saturday: 08:00 – 14:00

The activities that will take place during the extended working hours are all low noise activities and outlined in detail below:

  • Unloading of material deliveries using the crawler crane (between the hours of 07.00 and 08.00hrs)
  • Boring of pile and placement of casings using piling rigs (carried out during normal hours of 08:00 and 18:00hrs)
  • Concreting and backfilling works – this will involve a concrete wagon being brought onto site and unloading concrete down a pile. Wherever possible, reversing of the wagons will be prevented to avoid the noise associated with reversing vehicles.
  • Removing the pile casing – this work will involve the piling rig extracting the casing. This activity does not involve any drilling works. All drilling works will be limited to the standard working hours.
  • Plunge column install – this operation involves the use of the crawler crane to lower the plunge column into position and the column is then secured in place using a hydraulic frame, named a Cemloc frame, shown in the image below.
